Booty Luv
Nadia
and Cherise began their career in the group Big Brovaz who have had a
considerable success following their launch in 2002 with tracks like Nu Flow
and Favourite Things. Big Brovaz hope to re-launch with their new album
Re-Entry. The girls formed a new group called Booty Luv but are still
working together with Big Brovaz. They gained a Top 5 with their debut
single Boogie 2Nite and hope to have the same kind of success with their
next single, Shine.
Why the name Booty Luv?
We came up with the name because we love to shake the booty and wanted to create
music which shakes it!
How did you both get together to form the group?
Well we’ve worked together for years with Big Brovaz. We love Dance music which
the boys are not so keen on. We wanted to do something together so here we are.
How did you end up on a Funky House track?
Well the original was an R&B mix by Tweet which we loved, with the downplay of
Garage, Funky House is next level of up-tempo feel good music and that’s what
Booty Luv is about; up-tempo feel good music.
What was different recording Boogie 2Nite to other tracks you've done before?
Boogie 2Nite was different to the other tracks we’ve done in that it was a dance
track whilst we’ve previously worked on R&B and Hip Hop beats. Nevertheless, we
had great fun in the studio!
Who came up with the idea for the video?
The whole concept of Booty Luv and the first single Boogie 2Nite is music to
make you feel good and enjoy life. We wanted a video which represents the fun
and ‘feel good’ element of the track.
Do you think Funky House is going to blow?
Yes, I do think it’s gonna blow – it’s feel good music – people want to dance
and have fun, especially in clubs, and Funky House gives that. Also, you only
have to look at sales figures and compilations for Funky House mixes to see the
demand there is in the market today.
What do you think of the UK music scene at the moment?
It’s varied. There is a lot of Guitar based music, Rock bands, Dance and Urban.
It good to see the market grow in different areas and hope the support continues
for UK artists.
Are there any plans for another single or album as Booty Luv?
Yes, we are currently promoting our next single Shine which is out on the 7th
May. We’re also working on the Booty Luv album which will be out later this
year.
Are you more excited about Booty Luv than what Big Brovaz are doing at the
moment?
To be honest, we are excited about both. Big Brovaz and Booty Luv are two
different styles and we love them both. We feel really fortunate to have the
opportunity to work on R&B and Hip Hop styles with Big Brovaz as well as Funky
House with Booty Luv, both of which are true to us as artists.
How do you feel about Big Brovaz missing out on representing the UK at
Eurovision?
What can we say, we were not surprised and we know it would have been very hard
for an Urban act to go through to represent to the UK in Europe. However, we
really enjoyed performing live and the feedback received has been phenomenal,
even from our competitors. Our aim for Eurovision was to make a mark for Urban
music and we believe we succeeded in that.
What are you working on at the moment?
We are doing promotions for Booty Luv’s new single Shine and recording the Booty
Luv album, as well as promoting the new Big Brovaz album which is in the stores
now. We’ve got lots going on!
