Attitude

The veteran MC, who hails from Birmingham, Alabama, is known as one of the South's most distinctive artistic voices and writing talents. Attitude's debut independent album, 1997's "Serious Times," earned him respect as a pioneer of Birmingham's hip-hop scene, which helped to redefine the industry's concept of a Southern artist. Attitude, who has also made guest appearances on countless mixtapes, as well as albums by Nelly Furtado, Timbaland, Bubba Sparxxx and Rich Boy, says signing with Warner Bros. gives him the opportunity to put his home state on the map.

How does it feel to be releasing an album by yourself?

Great - I'm getting a chance to make history!

How did you make the decision to go solo?

I've always been a solo artist, I’ve just been writing for lots of other people before I recorded this album.

You've written for so many people in the past, what have been your highlights?

I would have to say "Promiscuous" with Nelly Furtado. That was a hot song.

Are you still writing for other people now?

Yes, so anybody who needs a hit don't hesitate to reach out to me with money in your hand!

What do you like to write about?

My life. It’s important to me that I’m honest when I’m writing so that listeners will pick up on it.

What's different about writing for yourself than for other people?

With other people I get to step out of my box.

Do you keep the best lyrics you write for yourself?

Sometimes.

What do you think of rappers with boring lyrics? Do you think they could be more imaginative?

Well if they lyrics are boring they are wack - plain and simple!

Why the name Attitude?

I'm a firm and blunt person so people tend to think when I'm being myself that I have an "Attitude" but it’s really just how and who I am.

Who did you work with on this album?

Timbaland, The Runners, Justice League and the list goes on and on. Buy the album and see.

How do you feel about signing to Warner Bros.?

All I have to say is thank God, and Tom at Warner for making my dreams come true.

You come from Alabama, how is your hometown feeling about your success?

They love it I'm like the fu**ing mayor where I'm from.

What are your goals for the album?

To sell more records than any other new artist from any Coast, and put Alabama on the map all the way!
